First CiCLO® is added to recycled polyester before it is spun and dyed. Handknits made with Loveful Bio Blend are no different to other knits until the end of their useful life when they are discarded. Then the CiCLO® additive attracts microbes to digest the treated fibres, ultimately converting them into including water, carbon dioxide, and organic matter. The timeframe for this process is shown left. For comparison, wool takes between a few months and a few years to break down, depending on dyes and finishes. Not only does Loveful Bio Blend use post-consumer recycled polyester, it takes that material completely out of the microplastic pollution cycle.
